Special Occasions

Special Occasions music workshops and concerts encourage adults and children with special needs to

  • overcome barriers

  • build confidence

  • express themselves

  • interact with one another

  • share experiences

  • create something new

  • and above all - have a really good time!

Luan offers
  • a fascinating introduction to the clarinet

  • demonstrations on instruments of different sizes

  • a wide range of repertoire (classical/jazz/popular/tv themes)

  • pre-recorded accompaniments (piano/orchestra/big band)

  • audience participation (percussion/voice/movement)

  • links with the National Curriculum

  • performing, composing, listening, appraising

  • games to promote mental and physical awareness

  • one-to-one or group sessions

  • a ‘one-off’ or a series of sessions

  • hour long, half or full day sessions

  • activity cards or worksheets for follow-up work

Repertoire includes

  • original works and arrangements of popular classics (including opera and ballet)

  • jazz and dance band numbers

  • traditional folk songs

  • Old Time Music Hall and wartime favourites

  • children’s TV and film themes

  • nursery rhyme and songs

  • …and requests of course!

Fees

  • 'one off' session (usually 1 hour)   £70

  • half day workshop session            £100

  • whole day of workshops               £150

For schools, sessions may be split between 2 or more classes/year groups upon request.  Teachers, please ask if you would like the sessions to focus on a particular topic or theme. It’s often fun to work towards a ‘final’ performance, possibly to the rest of the school at the end of the day!  I am happy to perform to the whole school in assembly if that suits your particular requirements.
