Live Music Workshops
are led by professional clarinettist, Luan Shaw. Luan believes that music should be accessible to everyone and in addition to working with and educating performers of all ages and abilities, she is committed to leading workshops and giving concerts for individuals or groups who would not normally have the opportunity to make music or to see or hear live performances.
Over the past 20 years, Luan has been involved in countless education and community projects, collaborating with Live Music Now, The Council for Music in Hospitals, the Lost Chord Project for Dementia sufferers, Sound it Out Community Music, Full Potential Arts, Birmingham Focus on Blindness, The Richard Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts, The Stables Theatre, Wigmore Hall Education, Birmingham Music Service, Orchestra of the Swan and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Luan holds an MA in Psychology for Musicians and during her studies she focused on musical development from before birth, the social aspects of music making and the impact of music for those with special needs. Her particular interests and specialisms are Early Years settings, primary schools and special schools but she is always willing to take on new ventures. Please read on for further information or contact Luan if you would like to discuss a potential workshop or project.
